OTHER INFO: After giving Ford its first win at LeMans in 1966, Bruce McLaren always dreamed of returning in a car of his own manufacture. With the competitive and commercial success of his Mk 6 CanAm car, he charged his team with producing a coupe version as his entry into the 1969 LeMans 24 hour race. In order to satisfy the requirement to produce 50 cars, a road going version was also planned. To that end 50 bodies and three prototypes were built, 001 being Bruce's personal vehicle. Regrettably, Bruce's death in a testing accident threw the company into turmoil and the directors decided to concentrate their efforts on Grand Prix, Indy Car and CanAm racing. This ongoing reconstruction consists of a combination of original, remanufactured, new and used parts. It features a Lingenfelter LS1 Chevy 350 engine (approx 450 HP), driving through a Porsche 911 transaxle.
