Events:

Lafferty reported on members whose dues are up for renewal during August, 2010.
Randy also reports the
following
events as listed on the SERC site or received by him:
1. The Food Lion Auto Fail will be held at Charlotte Motor
Speedway August 26-29.
2. Mike Keyserling wanted to remind members of a Labor Day
weekend festival in the Heritage Park in Port
Royal
(outside of US Naval Hospital Bft.) The Friends of Caroline Hospice have asked
for a car display on
September
3rd. That is our scheduled
cruise in and we will not deviate. The
club would be willing to do
something
on Saturday the 4th. Members
are encouraged to support this worthwhile cause.
3. September 18th, Merchant Chevrolet in
Ravenel will sponsor an open car show. Contact Randy for times.
4. The Club did not have a cruise out per se’ in July save
for the Corvettes of HHI cruise in on August 1st at
Sheridan
Park. Seven CCTCB cars attended.

our club to participate in the Car Club Jamborree on
Saturday
November 6, 2010. 15 spots are

of November 19-21st. in Multrie, GA.
7. The Daytona Turkey Run car show is scheduled for
November 25-28, 2010.
II. Old
Business:
1. The
Executive Committee met to discuss problems and complaints on how judging is
conducted at Cruise-ins. The
Exec. Committee agreed that membership should be
limited to vehicles 20 model years and older of the current
calendar year. The
sticking point was awarding plaques to newer cars at Cruise-ins. Once again, this an open show
and popular (public) vote.
The President passed out copies of recommendations for
Friday Cruise Ins.
The committee has decided to try a new system at the
August 6th Cruise.
Participants will register at the table and
completes a form with their name, address, e-mail, club
affiliation, and car info. The second
information car will be
given to the owner to display on his/her car. Members are needed to volunteer to mane the
registration table.
Dave Carroll, Jim Colwell, and Frank Williams will help
in August.Ballots will not be passed out until 6:30 PM to give
folks time to get to the Cruise. Voting will take place at 7:30-7:45 PM.
Those car owners who have won Best of Cruise will be
asked if they would consider not vying for the Best of Cruise
award for the rest of the year. If they agree they are free to run for a
runner up award. If they decline they
are free to
try for another Best of Cruise.
26 members voted to try this approach and three
dissented.
Rick Brown gave an update on the September 25th car
show in conjunction with the
Beaufort Home Builders Association.
Rick said the name of the show will be the Beaufort
Home, Garden, and Car Show and held at Beaufort Towne Center.
Approximately 300 cars can be accommodated. Overnight secured parking will be available.
Butler Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep has agreed to donate
$500.00 for the trophies. There will 82
trophies awarded.
The show will start at 9:00 AM with awards given at
3:00 PM. Rick has nine judges coming in
from outside the area.
Volunteers are welcomed to help out with registration
spotting cars, etc
III. New
Business:
Weddings, do we really want to get into this
business? This season has seen a
request for old cars more than ever.
All
in attendance agreed that $300.00 should be the
minimum. Part of the problem is that
people are using the members
car photos to shop their favorite ride and then expect
a car and driver for anywhere from 5 to 12 hours for $100. (Ain’t
going to happen!)
The September 3rd cruise in will be
sponsored by Callahan’s Sports Bar.
Thanks to Vic Neely.
Rick Brown will host a covered dish at Islands of
Beaufort club house for September 7th meeting.
Adjourned at 7:50PM.

that are due and would contact those not at the meeting
shortly. He also updated the group on
Cruises coming up and
may be

Lowell Rorrer introduced his son, along with a neighbor
and friend as guests at the meeting.
Last weekend’s 4th of July weekend Cruise in
at Grayco Friday was reported as a total success with 15 Race Cars and
60 Classic
Rides! Member Bob Woodman brought his
race cars (Woodman Tires), and Johnny McGrady owner of
“The Little Red Corvette” Team car was present with two
of our members, John Lynam and Jeff Dowling.
Mr.
Richard Gray again allowed the Cruise In at his parking
lot on Route 21. Plaque Sponsor was
Sweetgrass Restaurant of
Dataw. Fran gave special thanks to the above along
with Vic Neeley, Rick Brown, Rob Hilton, Rick Pierce for help in
setup, publicity and cleanup. Thank you letters to the teams, Mr. Gray and Sweetgrass would be
handled by Fran.
Per Executive Board it was decided NOT to participate
in the July 31st Motorcycle Benefit Run as the Wounded
Warrior group is not the same as our presently
sponsored organization out of Jacksonville.
OLD BUSINESS:
The List-Serve Email Address - carclub@islc.net - is up and running. Fran Forcione will administering the program,
adding and
deleting addresses. If you have any changes, please contact him.
VP Rick Brown updated the group on the September 25th
Car Show as part of the weekend Home/Garden & Car Show
taking place on
Boundary St. near the Government Ctr.
He will have a parking diagram and further layout information
available at
the August Meeting and they expect between 130-150 vehicles to
participate.
NEW BUSINESS:
The Club Executive Officers are recommending the
following:
Any Club member that wins a Best of Cruise In at our
Friday Cruise Ins will not be eligible again until the
next season
unless they win with a different ride. They
will display a placard informing attendees that they are not
competing in
the show, for Best of Show, although they will be eligible for runner up if
they choose to enter.
At
this announcement a lively discussion ensued.
One remark that came out of the talks was that we might
want to
consider a point system for Club rides with a special commendation at the end
of the year for the ride with the
most points
gathered during the course of the year.
Members also wanted it understood that this is supposed to be fun
and that the
Classics need not be show cars, but cars in process, in use, enjoyed.
Also
concern was voiced about the fact that we are a Classic Car and Truck Club
founded on the premise that
a classic must
be at least 20 years old, and are we
‘diluting’ our Club premise by allowing new vehicles to display and
win. Concern was voiced to limit the number of
newer rides that can be displayed to win.
Fran said that the executive
board would
discuss these concerns and report back to the Club at the August meeting.
Fran brought up the idea of forming a Cruise In Team
that will work at our first of every month events. This will be a
group of
volunteers responsible for various jobs like registering rides, distributing
ballots. He is looking for different
members for
each event. Also he wants the members
to consider replacing the present procedure of placing numbers
on the rides at
the Cruise In, with a registration form.
Fran is also looking for a list of ride requirements to make a ride
eligible for a
plaque at the event.
Fran announced the 1st ever name tag drawing
for those who wore their tags, Jim Colwell won and Tom Lewis was
given a special
prize for his volunteering his 1957 Chevy for weddings with proceeds benefiting
our Christmas Meals
on Classic
Wheels.
Possible organized Cruise Out location was suggested by
Barry Watkins as a trip to
Sweetwater Tree Farm in Aiken, home of former members
Scott Urban & Sandy Wohlers.
This will be considered at a later date as the trip is 4+
hours round trip.
The next meeting will be held at Rosie O’Grady’s August
3rd.
The August 6th Cruise In plaques will be
sponsored by Rockit Entertainment.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:07p.m..

Going over recent Council meeting notes, Randy spoke on
the Council’s desire to have all clubs advertise the charities they sponsor
on their flyers so that the general public will be
aware. Also the Council wants any
judging criteria along with other pertinent information
available on
flyers to make the events easier to understand for any interested parties who
want to participate.
Under Old
Business
Because there were only 9 responses to the BBQ out of
town June meeting, it was decided to forgo the event this year and look to next
year for the Edwins BBQ event.
Fran passed out copies of the membership web survey
which had 30 responses. The results
will be discussed at the June meeting.
Also the
By-law changes have been posted on our Club website.
The May 29th wedding party will enjoy Tom
Lewis’ 1957 Classic Chevy convertible driven by Fred Krumm. The Club will get a minimum of
$350 from this event, and it is hoped that future use
of our classics will bring in at least that amount or more depending upon the
situation.
Upon receipt of the details he will forward them to Tom
and Fred.
Rick Brown updated members on the September Home and
Car Show event. He will be walking the
area to configure the setup. He said
mention of the show will be made on at least 12 area
websites and that it is the only show of significance in the area that weekend.
Under New
Business
Rick Brown spoke on the lack of member’s rides on the
Club website giving the perception that we only have a few members. Rick requested
that all members whose rides are not on the website get
pictures and description to him. Also
he will be taking pictures of member’s rides at
up coming events for the Club website.
Also, the car club email list will be setup as a network
so that only one email address will be required to send info to the Club
members. More
particulars on this will come later.
By Gone Days Antique Cars dealership will sponsor the
June Cruise-in event.
On October 2nd there will be a Lt. Dan Wounded

this.

Randy Lafferty, Membership Chair said several members
had dues due and he would be contacting them soon. He said records showed that we
had about 90 members total, but felt that some would not
be renewing and he would have a more up-to-date list available shortly. He also
mentioned that there would be an update of new members
recently joined with info on their rides sent out via email within a few days
of the
meeting.
President Fran brought up the proposed change to our

The current section reads:

Randy went through a partial list of April-May Cruises
and Shows. If you want more info on
these contact him directly.
President Fran discussed the Member Survey that he had
emailed to all registered members. He

outings and events for all to enjoy as well as address changes that might come
up.

Under OLD Business:
A short discussion about
the proposed By-Law Change with regard to length of club officers terms of
office
was brought forth and President
Fran said he would email the specifics of the change to the membership
shortly.
Voting on the changes would take place at the next meeting.
Vice President, Rick
Brown, gave an update on the September 25th Home & Car Show
which will take place in
the grassy area in front of the
Hilton Garden Inn on Boundary Street. It was agreed by members present
that we
will have a Car Corral just for members as a display with no
prizes for our club. More details to come on this.
A membership survey is in
the works. Fran is looking for input for questions and interests that
might be a part of
this endeavor. Please
contact him with your thoughts and ideas.
Under NEW Business:
It was unanimously voted
not to continue providing food at future Cruise-ins to Grayco. Sponsor
for the April
event with plaques will be Earl’s Body Shop and the May event plaques will be provided by Alvin Ord’s.
Rick Brown would like to see
logo apparel with club insignia streamlined so there is not an excess of
inventory.
Club members voted to elect Rick “Apparel Manager”. All
agreed that our ‘Fin Logo’ should be on all flyers and
is the official logo for our
Club. This is an ongoing apparel project at this time.
The Club Trailer will
continue to be stored at Earl’s Body Shop through the generosity of Fred
Krumm. Transport
to Club events will be on an event to event basis with volunteers
coordinating the venture. Dave volunteered to
bring the trailer to the April
Cruise-in. For further information on this contact Fran.
A Classic Car is requested
for a March 27th wedding on Parris Island. Tom Lewis has
volunteered his 57 Chevy
convertible and Lowell
Rorrer has volunteered his 1965 Impala. As neither owner will be
available for that day
to chauffer, Mike Keyserling has offered to drive which ever car
the bridal couple prefer. A donation to the Club
for their Christmas Meals on Classic Wheels will be requested.
Our Wounded Warriors
sponsorship is also a part of whatever events we hold and make a profit
from. Another
suggestion arose that we
consider sponsoring a Christmas Tree for the Festival Of Trees Event in
December that
assists the Caroline Hospice
Program. Betsi suggested a car theme with each member providing a
couple of matchbox
cars as ornaments. Further
discussion will be at a later date.
Jim Colwell brought up the
idea of participating (just for fun) in the Moonlight Bowling Extravaganza on
Saturday
nights at 8PM at our local
Bowling Alley. Contact Jim if you are interested.
Richie Parker, design
engineer for Hendricks Motor Sports in the Charlotte, NC area has assisted in
the design of
several of the unique chassis
used in many well known race cars. The son of Lottie and Tracy Parker,
and a member
of our Club, Richie might be
interested in taking a group on a tour of the facility during the Food Lion
Auto Fair at
the Charlotte Motor Speedway on
the weekend of August 26. Further details on this will be
forthcoming. Also check
out the website: hendricksmotorsport.com Tracy also mentioned that
we need to let our local merchants know that
CC&TCB is still alive and
kicking and we should support them. Many of the auto parts stores in our
area give club
discounts. And several
have sponsored cruise-ins through the years.
The next Club meeting may
take place at the new ’Groupers’ Restaurant on Lady’s Island by the Marina
(formerly
Ollies). The Executive Board will check it out and notify
the membership prior to the May meeting.

were present. Pete
Dickerson volunteered to keep minutes of this meeting.
Minutes of the January
meeting, as reported on the Club website, were approved by voice
vote.
Treasurer Jim Colwell
reported that the Club’s bank balance at present is $2,046.88.
Membership Secretary Randy
Lafferty noted certain members whose membership needs to be
renewed at present time.
Recent Cruises/Car Events: The Club
entered the 24 hours of Lemons on February 6&7, and the
ride performed admirably until the last couple hours when the
radiator sprung a leak.
Congratulations to our R&R
Racing team of Rick Brown, Rob Hilton, Rick Pierce and Frank
Williams on finishing and bringing the Franken Honda home! Thanks also was noted to Bob
Woodman for helping the team test drive over at Robling Road. On Sunday, February 7th the
Charleston Mopar Club came
down and met up with a number of CCTCB members at Sonics on
Lady’s Island. Good turnout also from their members in
Effingham County. On Saturday, January
23rd
12 rides and 15 members cruised over to Callahan’s on HHI for an
excellent lunch. Many thanks to
Vic Neely for the world class
onion rings and hamburgers (our R&R
Racing Team got a chance to
practice up on Vic’s Racing
Game!). President Forcione expressed
sincere thanks, on behalf of
the Club, to Mike and Angie Keyserling for hosting this month’s
meeting and cooking the oysters!
Old Business: President Forcione introduced
the other officers of the Club: Rick Brown,
Vice President and Jim
Colwell, Treasurer. He noted we still
did not have a secretary. Betsi
Hilton volunteered to be
Secretary, to be supported by two Assistant Secretaries—Donna
Berger and Jane
Gallagher. The election of these
members was voted by acclamation.
Mike Keyserling reported that
he had met with the Old Village Association (Port Royal) and that
the traditional Oktoberfest
where the Club had held its annual Car Show, is not likely to be held
this year.
New Business: The Walterboro Cruisers have
indicated that they will attend our regular monthly
Cruise-In on March 5 at the Grayco Hardware site on Lady’s
Island. The Executive Committee
urged members to come out and
support this participation from Walterboro.
Jim Colwell noted
that the Walterboro Cruisers meet regularly on the 3rd
Saturday each month in Walterboro.
He also pointed out that the
Walterboro Cutouts regularly meet the last Thursday each month
up there.
President Forcione noted that
on Saturday, March 20 the Dataw Island Relay for Life team will be
holding a tag sale and car display in the Grayco Home Center
parking lot as a fundraiser for finding
a cure for cancer. He encouraged members to support this
event. Complementary hotdogs, soda
and water will be provided to
all members and family that bring a ride for the display. He will be
circulating a flyer to members with more information. He proposed and the members present
voted to contribute $100 to
Relay for Life project.
Jack Gallagher and Rick Brown
reported that the Butler dealership would like to sponsor a car
display with active CCTCB
participation in March. The display
would be at its used car lot at
Boundary & Hwy 170. It was agreed at the meeting that Saturday,
March 27 would be an
acceptable date. More
information will be provided to members via email and the website.
Change to By-laws: The Executive Committee recommends that the Club change its
By-laws , to
be voted upon at its March 2010 meeting, as follows:
Article V, Section 5.2:
Nominations for office shall take place in
January/February of the new
calendar year, with
solicitation of volunteers for all positions to be sought first. Term of office
shall be for one year or as
mutually agreed upon by outgoing and incoming officers. PROPOSED
CHANGE- Term of office shall be one year for Vice President who
will succeed the President the
following year. Two years
for the Secretary and Treasurer, or as mutually agreed upon by
outgoing and incoming officers.
President Forcione noted that
the Executive Committee will be sending a survey to all members
soon dealing with a number of matters affecting the Club, its
activities, programs and
communications. The purpose will be to determine what our
membership would like to see
added to, or discontinued
from, our activities and why out of approximately 100 dues paying
members, only some 30 or so actively participate in events.
Because the Oktoberfest is up
in the air, the Executive Committee proposed that we make the
forthcoming Beaufort Home and Car Show, sponsored by the Home
Builders Association, our
primary show and fundraiser for the year. The Executive Committee also recommended
that
if the Oktoberfest actually were to be scheduled that the Club
could participate as a display
event. Rick Brown reported
that the Show would take place on Saturday, September 25th, with
a $20 entry fee to include a meal and T-shirt. Many trophy categories with non-CCTCB
judges;
CCTCB rides would be in iits own corral. Given the depth of
sponsorship this Show has the
prospects of becoming a major
event in the state. Proceeds raised
would benefit the Club’s Meals
on Classic Wheels project at Christmas time as well as the Wounded
Warriors Fund. Rick
indicated that virtually all of the support work, advertising and
promotion would be funded by
the HBA. The members present voted to make this the
Club’s major fundraising event and to
support it fully.
Members present voted to
