Minutes of CCTCB Meeting of
February 19, 2010
Held at the Keyserling Residence,
Beaufort, SC
President
Fran Forcione called the meeting to order at 7:05PM. Approximately 45 members
were present. Pete Dickerson volunteered to keep minutes of this meeting.
Minutes
of the January meeting, as reported on the Club website, were approved by voice
vote.
Treasurer
Jim Colwell reported that the Club’s bank balance at present is $2,046.88.
Membership
Secretary Randy Lafferty noted certain members whose membership needs to be
renewed
at present time.
Recent Cruises/Car Events: The Club entered the 24 hours of Lemons on February 6&7, and
the
ride performed admirably until the last
couple hours when the radiator sprung a leak.
Congratulations
to our R&R Racing team of Rick Brown, Rob Hilton, Rick Pierce and Frank
Williams on finishing and bringing the
Franken Honda home! Thanks also was
noted to Bob
Woodman for helping the team test drive over
at Robling Road. On Sunday, February 7th
the
Charleston
Mopar Club came down and met up with a number of CCTCB members at Sonics on
Lady’s
Island. Good turnout also from their
members in Effingham County. On
Saturday, January 23rd
12 rides and 15 members cruised over to
Callahan’s on HHI for an excellent lunch.
Many thanks to
Vic
Neely for the world class onion rings and hamburgers (our R&R Racing Team got a chance to
practice
up on Vic’s Racing Game!). President
Forcione expressed sincere thanks, on behalf of
the Club, to Mike and Angie Keyserling for hosting
this month’s meeting and cooking the oysters!
Old Business: President Forcione introduced the other officers of the Club:
Rick Brown,
Vice
President and Jim Colwell, Treasurer.
He noted we still did not have a secretary. Betsi
Hilton
volunteered to be Secretary, to be supported by two Assistant Secretaries—Donna
Berger
and Jane Gallagher. The election of
these members was voted by acclamation.
Mike
Keyserling reported that he had met with the Old Village Association (Port
Royal) and that
the
traditional Oktoberfest where the Club had held its annual Car Show, is not
likely to be held
this year.
New Business: The Walterboro Cruisers have indicated that they will attend our
regular monthly
Cruise-In on March 5 at the Grayco Hardware
site on Lady’s Island. The Executive
Committee
urged
members to come out and support this participation from Walterboro. Jim Colwell noted
that the Walterboro Cruisers meet regularly
on the 3rd Saturday each month in Walterboro.
He
also pointed out that the Walterboro Cutouts regularly meet the last Thursday
each month
up
there.
President
Forcione noted that on Saturday, March 20 the Dataw Island Relay for Life team
will be
holding a tag sale and car display in the
Grayco Home Center parking lot as a fundraiser for finding
a
cure for cancer. He encouraged members
to support this event. Complementary
hotdogs, soda
and
water will be provided to all members and family that bring a ride for the
display. He will be
circulating a flyer to members with more
information. He proposed and the
members present
voted
to contribute $100 to Relay for Life project.
Jack
Gallagher and Rick Brown reported that the Butler dealership would like to
sponsor a car
display
with active CCTCB participation in March.
The display would be at its used car lot at
Boundary
& Hwy 170. It was agreed at the
meeting that Saturday, March 27 would be an
acceptable date. More information will be provided to members via email and the
website.
Change
to By-laws: The Executive Committee recommends that
the Club change its By-laws , to
be voted upon at its March 2010 meeting, as
follows:
Article
V, Section 5.2: Nominations for office shall take place in January/February of the new
calendar
year, with solicitation of volunteers for all positions to be sought
first. Term of office
shall
be for one year or as mutually agreed upon by outgoing and incoming
officers. PROPOSED
CHANGE- Term of office shall be one year for
Vice President who will succeed the President the
following year. Two years for the Secretary and Treasurer, or as mutually agreed
upon by
outgoing and incoming officers.
President
Forcione noted that the Executive Committee will be sending a survey to all
members
soon dealing with a number of matters
affecting the Club, its activities, programs and
communications. The purpose will be to determine what our
membership would like to see
added
to, or discontinued from, our activities and why out of approximately 100 dues
paying
members, only some 30 or so actively
participate in events.
Because
the Oktoberfest is up in the air, the Executive Committee proposed that we make
the
forthcoming Beaufort Home and Car Show,
sponsored by the Home Builders Association, our
primary show and fundraiser for the
year. The Executive Committee also
recommended that
if the Oktoberfest actually were to be
scheduled that the Club could participate as a display
event.
Rick Brown reported that the Show would take place on Saturday,
September 25th, with
a $20 entry fee to include a meal and
T-shirt. Many trophy categories with
non-CCTCB judges;
CCTCB rides would be in iits own corral. Given
the depth of sponsorship this Show has the
prospects
of becoming a major event in the state.
Proceeds raised would benefit the Club’s Meals
on Classic Wheels project at Christmas time
as well as the Wounded Warriors Fund.
Rick
indicated that virtually all of the support
work, advertising and promotion would be funded by
the HBA.
The members present voted to
make this the Club’s major fundraising event and to
support
it fully.
Members
present voted to support an entry for the upcoming Pine Box Derby race, with
a
contribution of $50. Further details to be obtained from Rich
Davis.

use more
funding! More dollars means more Christmas
meals.
A questioned was raised as to
the estimated non-club car registrations expected. Most thought 50 could be
accommodated. The Executive Committee will be discussing
the number of mugs to be ordered. Pete
Dickerson
mentioned that local TV would
like to cover the club before the Oktoberfest show. Jim Colwell will call Jamie Dailey

Tracy Parker brought the idea of
not putting the year on the mugs so as not to cause hard feelings. There will be no
Classes featured this
year. Awards will be strictly popular

shape for Oktoberfest.
Since Vic Neely donated $300
